Police have arrested a man on charges of beating and killing a community dog in Koshi Rural Municipality, Sunsari.
According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, the police have arrested Santosh Das, 35, of Koshi Rural Municipality-3. Das had beaten the community dog with a stick on the pretext that it had entered his cornfield at around 6 am on February 24. The dog, which was seriously injured in the beating, died some time later.
A police team deployed on the basis of a complaint regarding the incident arrested Das from his house on Wednesday afternoon, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari.
Police have extended the remand of the arrested Das by five days from the District Administration Office, Sunsari, to further investigate the animal-related crime.
