Three buses were completely burnt down and three others were partially damaged in a fire that broke out at the Atal Garage in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-8 on Tuesday night.
According to the Area Police Office, Dharan, a police team under the command of Police Inspector Jeevan Kunwar was deployed to the scene after receiving information about the fire at around 10 pm on Tuesday night. The police said that the fire was completely brought under control at around 10:40 pm with the joint efforts of the police and the fire brigade.
According to the police, buses with registration numbers Ko1 Kha 6274, Pra1-01-001 Kha 4037 and Ba4 Kha 5759 were completely burnt down in the fire. Similarly, buses with registration numbers Ko1 Kha 3847, Ba5 Kha 5814 and Ba5 Kha 5809 were partially damaged.
DSP Bhishan Babu Rai of the Area Police Office, Dharan, informed that there were no human or animal casualties in the incident. The cause of the fire has not been determined and an investigation is underway, police said.
According to police, security personnel and fire engines were immediately mobilized after receiving information about a sudden fire in buses parked in a garage. Initial estimates suggest that the buses were extensively damaged in the fire, and police said they are collecting detailed information about the damage.
