Writer Jhamak Ghimire was not able to vote this time. As her health problems have been getting complicated for the past few years, the 45-year-old is resting at her residence in Dhankuta-6 Kachinde under the supervision of a doctor.

She was also unable to reach the polling station at the Multi-Purpose Community Building at Ram Prasad Pokharel Eye Hospital, which is a 10-minute drive from her home.

Since she is unable to walk, she had been voting in the past by being carried by vehicles and relatives. She gave a written response, 'I could not vote this time.'

Even though she is unable to move her arms and legs, Jhamak used to mark the swastika on the ballot paper herself with the toe of her left foot. Ghimire's mother has a problem with her legs, while her father Krishna Bahadur is on a wheelchair. In this election, only her mother Asha reached the polling station by auto and voted at 3 pm. Sister Mausami said that even though Jhamak had arranged for a vehicle to go with him to vote, it was not possible.

Jhamak, the author of the Madan Award-winning book 'Jeevan Kanda Ki Phul', has published one and a half dozen literary books.
