One person was killed and another was seriously injured when a car and a motorcycle collided on the inner road near Kanchanjungha School in Birtamod Municipality-4, Jhapa.
According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, a car (Bagmati Pradesh-01-025Cha 6050) heading towards Sainik Bazaar from Birtamod and a motorcycle (Pr1-01-016Pa 3959) coming from the opposite direction collided at around 9:20 pm on Friday.
The motorcycle driver, Vishal Poudel, 25, a resident of Charali, Mechinagar Municipality-13, was seriously injured in the accident. Although he was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, the police said that the doctor declared him dead.
Chandrakishore Chapagain, 25, a resident of Kankai Municipality-6, who was riding behind the motorcycle, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. His condition is said to be serious.
The police have taken the car driver, Chirag Sinha, 25, a resident of Birtamod Municipality-6, into custody. The district police have stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
