A rifle was found burnt in a bush on an empty land near Thana Road in Damak Municipality-6, Jhapa.

A police team deployed during a patrol on an empty land of Yamji Shrestha, about 20 meters northeast of the Area Police Office, Damak, found a Mark-4 rifle bearing the registration number Y13487 on Thursday evening.

According to the police, the wooden part of the rifle is completely burnt and the entire metal part is rusty. The recovered weapon has been kept safe at the Area Police Office, Damak.

During the investigation, the police confirmed from the office records that the rifle was looted from the Area Police Office, Damak during the Genji movement on Bhadra 24, 2082.

The police informed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
