I founded the party to take the country from darkness to light: Former Minister Ghising

What you should know

Ujjala Nepal Party Chairman and former Minister Kulman Ghising has said that the country is currently in a state of 'political load shedding' and darkness.

Addressing an election rally held in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, he said that the Ujjala Nepal Party was established to end the various load sheddings in the country, bring light to the faces of every person and move the country towards prosperity and economic transformation.

'Although our party was registered three months ago and there was some confusion in the meantime, we have risen again and come forward strongly,' he said, 'Ujjala Nepal Party has brought light to the country. This light will never go out and it is necessary for you to support it so that it does not go out.'

Ghising cited the improvements seen in the energy sector under his leadership as an example, removing load shedding in the past, expanding electricity distribution, improving management and successfully exporting electricity to India and Bangladesh by turning the Nepal Electricity Authority from a loss to a profit. He said, 'There is load shedding not only in electricity, but in the entire system in the country. Only the Ujjaya Nepal Party is capable of removing that darkness and making life brighter.'

He pointed out that result-oriented investment is necessary in health, education, irrigation, industry and local economic development. Presenting the example of distributing shares to locals and creating jobs through Chilime Hydropower, he said that the foundation for economic transformation has been laid.

Ghising also pointed out the lack of priority setting in development projects. Giving the example of the Kankai Bridge in Jhapa not being constructed for a long time but low-priority structures being constructed quickly, he criticized the lack of a clear and systematic investment policy. 'Development is not possible in the country without proper planning and strong leadership,' he added.

Stating that the Ujjaya Nepal Party's agenda is mainly focused on the poor, squatters, health, education and industry reforms, Ghising said that the party can be made a new force and an alternative option only by winning the election of Sunsari-1 candidate Dambar Lawati (Gentle).
