A fire has broken out at a community building in Sakela Rural Municipality-4, Manebhanjyang. The fire broke out around 6:30 am on Wednesday morning.
According to Sakela Rural Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Durga Bahadur Rai, the damage has been estimated at 31.536 million. Rai said that the fire broke out at an under-construction building with an investment of about 40 million rupees by the rural municipality. “The fire broke out at around 6:30 this morning and caused a lot of damage,” Rai said. “A bond worth 31.536 million rupees has been issued for the damage caused by the fire in the community building under construction with an investment of about 40 million rupees by the rural municipality.”
The building was under construction but was being used as a residence. The building, which has been sloped up to three floors, houses the residences of the rural municipality vice-chair Birsika Rai, accountant Uttam Acharya and information officer DM Chamling, said information officer Chamling.
Locals, employees and police brought the fire under control after an hour and a half, said Chief Administrative Officer Rai. An investigation into the arson is underway, said Information Officer Raju Bista of the District Police Office, Khotang.
