The District Election Office, Sankhuwasabha, has designated election contact persons at all 10 local levels as election monitors and has begun training them from Tuesday, targeting the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.

The monitor has been given the responsibility of training and mobilizing voter education volunteers to the ward level and monitoring them.

District Election Officer Santosh Rai informed that 76 voter education volunteers will be mobilized in 76 wards of the district. According to him, the voter education program will be conducted from Falgun 3 to 17.

Addressing the program, Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya urged the volunteers to provide voter education impartially by fully adhering to the election code of conduct. She said that volunteers should play an important role in spreading public awareness to prevent votes from being invalidated.

Similarly, Chief Election Officer Rajkumar Koirala instructed to work impartially and responsibly without any bias towards any party.

He emphasized that voter education is not for any particular party but to strengthen democracy and should be taken to the grassroots level effectively. He also warned that if any affiliation with any party is seen, the concerned employee will be subject to action.

He said that this program, which focuses on voter awareness, is expected to help in fair, free and effective elections.
