The bodies of three people from Khotang who lost their lives in a fire while blasting an illegal coal mine in Meghalaya, India, have been cremated in India.

The bodies of Purniram Magar, 27, of Salgharibhanjyang in Barahapokhari Rural Municipality-1, Barahapokhari, his brother Surendra Magar, 24, and Nar Bahadur Magar, 35, of Bhanjyang in the same ward, who lost their lives in the incident that took place on Magh 22, were cremated.

According to relative Prakash Khapangi Magar, the bodies were cremated on Monday at a place called Bhalupara in Shilong. Ratna Rai, 50, of Durchhim Jorkafal in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-5 is also missing in the incident. Relative Bhogindra Rai said that he was shaved on Sunday according to Kirat rituals, saying that he had died. 27 people have died in the incident, including him.

Prakash Khapangi Magar, who reached the scene, said that 4 Nepalese people injured in the incident are being treated at Nilgreen Hospital in Shilong. According to him, Dawa Sherpa, 48, of Mudhe, Majhuwagadhi Municipality-2, Diktel Rupakot, Bam Bahadur Magar, 40, and Karna Bahadur Magar, 45, of Barahapakheri Rural Municipality-1, and Lalit Bahadur Magar, of Saune, Udayapur Triyuga Municipality, are undergoing treatment. Prakash said that their condition is improving. Five other people who were injured in the incident are also undergoing treatment.
