Two brothers from the same house in Khotang Barahpokhari Rural Municipality-1 have died in an explosion at a coal mine in Meghalaya, India.

Purna Bahadur Khapangi Magar, 27, a resident of Salgharibhanjyang in Barahapokhari Rural Municipality-1, and his brother Surendra Khapangi Magar, 24, died on the spot in an explosion that occurred at a coal mine in Umsanghat, Meghalaya on Thursday.

According to Ward Chairman Dhak Bahadur Karki, 35-year-old Nar Bahadur Khapangi Magar, 45-year-old Bam Bahadur Khapangi Magar, and 40-year-old Karna Bahadur Khapangi Magar of Bhanjyang in Barahapokhari were injured in the incident.

Karki also said that Nar Bahadur and Bam Bahadur are in critical condition. Lalit Bahadur Magar of Udayapur Sawane was also injured in the incident.

Out of the 7-member team that reached Meghalaya and worked in the coal mine, only Tarabal Magar of Balampa in Barahapokhari is safe. After the explosion, Tarabal informed his relatives about the incident over the phone.

Relatives have stated that the deceased and injured in the accident had left their homes for Meghalaya on December 3rd for employment.
