Police have stated that Tamang, who was riding the tractor heading from Chichila to Num, died after being crushed by the rear wheel when he suddenly fell off the moving tractor and onto the road.
A worker died on the spot in a road accident that occurred on the North-South Koshi Highway at Mudhe, Makalu Rural Municipality-5, Sankhuwasabha, at around 9 pm on Wednesday.
Police have stated that Nemlal Tamang, a permanent resident of Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality-6, Sindhuli, has died.
A team deployed from Police Post Num under the command of Police Assistant Inspector Kamal Shrestha had secured the scene of the incident and started identifying and searching for the vehicle. Another team led by Police Inspector Meghraj Aryal was also mobilized from the District Police Office Sankhuwasabha for further investigation.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased Nemlal Tamang was working as a laborer in a tractor (Na 5 Ta 7081) operated by Basantapur Nirman Sewa Pvt. Ltd. along the under-construction North-South Koshi Highway, DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali said.
Tamang, who was riding the tractor that was heading towards Num from Chichila, suddenly fell off the moving tractor and was crushed to death by the rear wheel, according to police.
The tractor has been found parked in Makalu Rural Municipality-5 Num and taken into custody. Police have informed that the identification and search operations have been intensified as the tractor driver is absconding.
After completing the legal procedures at the scene, the body of the deceased has been sent to the District Hospital, Sankhuwasabha, Khandbari for postmortem.
