Namuna College has made a winning start to the Hisan Cup cricket tournament that began on Monday in Itahari.
In the inaugural match organized by the Higher Education and Secondary School Association (HISAN) Sunsari on Monday, Namuna defeated Bishwa Adarsh College by 4 runs. Batting first after winning the toss at the Janata Cricket Ground, Namuna scored 94 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 15 overs.
Gunjan Dahal scored 27 runs for Namuna while Aditya BK added 21 runs. Aryan Chaudhary of Bishwa Adarsh took 2 and Sandesh Bhandari took 1 wicket. In reply, Bishwa Adarsh, chasing a winning target of 95 runs, could only score 90 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Apart from Paul Sigdel scoring 17 and Sakushal Shrestha scoring 16 runs, the other batsmen could not perform well.
Namuna's Raju BK and Sudeep Khatri took 2 wickets each. Aditya BK was declared the man of the match. In the second match held on Monday, Small Heaven School of Inaruwa defeated Purbanchal Secondary School of Itahari by 49 runs.
8 colleges of Sunsari are participating in the Hisan Cup Cricket under the 12th Sports Meet of Hisan Sunsari. The participating teams in the competition, organized with the aim of highlighting college-level cricket talent, have been divided into two groups.
