One person has died and the driver has been injured in a motorcycle accident on the Mechi Bridge in Mechinagar Municipality-6, Jhapa.

Police said that the accident occurred when a motorcycle bearing the number Province 1-01-012 Pa 3849 coming from India to Nepal hit a barricade on the road at around 10 pm on Saturday. Chetan Katuwal, aged 40, of Mechinagar-6, who was sitting behind the motorcycle, died in the accident.  The driver, Kashinath Poudel, aged 35, of Mechinagar-6, was injured. His condition is said to be normal.

The seriously injured Katuwal was taken to Amda Hospital, Dhulabari for treatment, where doctors declared him dead at around 11 pm, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.
