A demonstration was held in Phungling, the Taplejung district headquarters, on Friday demanding the cancellation of the Pathibhara cable car construction. The Cable Car Cancellation Joint Struggle Committee led a rally and a corner meeting in Tokmedanda.

The protest was addressed by Kirat Dharma and Literature Utthan Sangh President and identity leader Dakendra Singh Thegim, singer Jhuma Limbu, Khagendra Fembu Limbu of the Sangharsh Samiti and others. They have reiterated their stance that the cable car should not be built in Pathibhara and that they will not allow it to be built under any circumstances.

The rally, which started from Tokmedanda, the entrance to the district headquarters, passed through Dobato, Purano Kopche, Birendra Chowk, Purano Bank Line and then turned into a corner meeting at Falgunanda Chowk in Tokmedanda. Protest graffiti has also been done in the Tokme area.

Joint Sangharsh Samiti President Fembu said that they held a peaceful protest in view of the election code of conduct. He reiterated that the cancellation of the cable car was their only demand.

The protesting group has announced that they will honor the injured in the clashes in the Pathibhara area on Saturday and will hang a thread in the Pathibhara area on Sunday. Keeping in view the activities that may occur during the protest, the administration has mobilized a significant number of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, and has conducted joint patrols with the army in the headquarters area.

The program of the protest was announced as 'No Cable Bar' on December 18 through a press conference. Under this, corner meetings were held in various districts and major cities of eastern Nepal on December 12.

It has been mentioned that a demonstration and corner meeting will be held in the Pathibhara (Mukkumlung) area on December 19 and that from December 20 to mid-Magh, a village campaign will be launched with issues such as the cancellation of the Pathibhara Cable Car and Pathibhara Area Development Committee formation order, the cancellation of the cases filed during the protest during the Mukkumulung protection, etc. as the election agenda.
