A three-day 'Local Taste and Cultural Festival-2082' is being organized from Thursday with the aim of bringing local flavors, traditions, and art and culture together in one place. The second edition of the festival is being organized by the Nanda Corridor Promotion Center.
According to the organizers, this year's edition will be promoted as an 'Ethnic Food-Culture Soak'.
The festival, which will focus on dishes, dances, customs and art that reflect community identity, will feature an exhibition of antiques and paintings, a panel discussion on the importance of traditional food, a cooking competition, a cultural tableau of different ethnic groups and an open intellectual competition, informed program chairman Dharmendra Khadka.
Another objective of the festival is to introduce food dishes available in villages to city restaurants and high-end hotels as part of a long-term plan to bring traditional products to the market, the organizers said.
There will be 10 stalls at the festival. Four of them will focus on traditional food of various ethnic groups. Dishes like millet cakes, bread, soup, pickles from dal to tomato and phapar pakodas will be a special attraction at the stall. Mechinagar is home to minority tribal groups including Meche, Dhimal, Munda, Malpande, Urau, Santhal, Kisan and others.
