Health services provided by foreign doctors in remote areas

More than 800 local residents from remote areas have received direct health services from a two-day free health camp organized in Makalu Rural Municipality-5 of the district.

The camp, which was organized with the aim of providing services to the poor, disabled and target groups who are far from access to health services, received health check-ups from 841 people.

A team of 14 specialist doctors from the United States provided services at the camp on the special initiative of Helping Hands founder Narayan Shrestha. The camp, held on Wednesday and Thursday, provided specialist services related to general physician, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat, pediatrics, gynecology and heart disease.

In addition, eye tests, ECG services, cervical cancer tests, free medicine distribution and reading glasses were provided. The local residents were excited and happy to receive treatment from a foreign specialist doctor in their own village.

While observing the camp, Makalu Rural Municipality Chairman Ongdi Tshiring Sherpa expressed happiness that a free health camp was being conducted in a remote area.
