The complaint filed against Lal Bikram Thapa, who had filed his candidacy for Sunsari Constituency No. 2 from the National Independent Party (NISP), has been dismissed.
A complaint was filed against Thapa, who had filed his nomination for the House of Representatives on Tuesday, at the Chief Electoral Officer's office on Wednesday. However, the complaint against Thapa was dismissed on the grounds that the claim was not sufficient, said Arun Meheta, Assistant Electoral Officer of Sunsari Constituency No. 2. Independent candidate for the House of Representatives, Satyanarayan Pandit, filed a complaint against Thapa at the Electoral Officer's office in Inaruwa on Wednesday.
The complaint stated that Thapa had to pay more than Rs 7.4 million to the Janata Secondary School in Itahari-9 and that the audit had also found that there was arrears. During the hearing on Thursday, Thapa's candidacy was upheld due to lack of evidence, said Assistant Electoral Officer Meheta.
Thapa was a candidate from the same constituency in the previous House of Representatives election as well.
