The construction of the 'Laligurans Trail' has begun within the Sankhuwasabha-Khandbari Municipality with the aim of attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
The official foundation stone for the construction of an 11.5-kilometer-long footpath from Chhyangkuti in Khandbari Municipality-4 to Batasedanda on the border of Khandbari-10 and 11 was laid on Wednesday at a cost of Rs 9.8 million.
Khandbari Municipality Mayor Mahesh Thapaliya laid the foundation stone for the construction of the footpath during a program. Mayor Thapaliya expressed his belief that if a systematic 'foot trail' can be constructed around Khandbari, the beauty of the town will increase and the number of domestic and foreign tourists will increase. He said that the footpath has been taken forward with the long-term goal of connecting Khandbari Municipality to Chichila Rural Municipality and Bahrabise Bazaar in Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality.
'In the future, there is a possibility of merging Chichila Rural Municipality with Khandbari Municipality to form a sub-metropolitan city,' he said, 'The town is committed to development and prosperity. We have accelerated the development work by respecting the feelings of the residents. The construction work will be completed on time and the municipality will continue to allocate the necessary budget in the coming days.'
According to him, the construction of another 'foot trail' connecting to Chichila Rural Municipality will also be taken forward soon. He said that this trail is expected to make a significant contribution to local tourism promotion, job creation and regional development.
