People aged 38 to 66 have entered the fray in the Himalayan district of Taplejung, where there are zero women and independent candidates, for the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21. Thirteen candidates from 13 parties have registered their candidacies.
The youngest candidate among those who have registered their candidacy at the Election Commission office in Taplejung is Kshitij Thebe of CPN-UML. He is 38 years old. Thebe, the central president of the National Youth Association, a sister organization of the UML, has entered parliamentary politics for the first time. Thebe was born in Sirijanga Rural Municipality-1 Sinam.
The oldest is Surya Gurung of the Federal Socialist Party Nepal. He is 66 years old from Boze of Phungling Municipality-2. In the election competition, 46-year-old Gajendra Prasad Tumyahang of Sirijanga-7 Khewang is from the Nepali Congress, 50-year-old Khel Prasad Budhachhetri of Sirijanga-4 Pedang is from the Nepali Communist Party, and 55-year-old Birendra Shrestha of Sirijanga-1 Sinam is from the National Independent Party.
Kirtiman Maden, 65, of Phungling Municipality-4 has become a candidate from Ujjaya Nepal, Indra Thapa, 63, of Mikwakhola-2 Khokling from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Narapati Poudel, 61, of Phaktanglung-3 Linghim Siwa from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) and Santosh Rai, 49, of Sirijanga-8 Yamphudin from the Shram Sanskriti Party.
Santa Bahadur Limbu, 57, of Phungling Municipality-2 has become a candidate from the Mongol National Organization, Arun Subba Lechharbo, 48, of Phungling Municipality-10 from the Janata Samajwadi Party, Indra Kumar Limbu, 48, of Mikwakhola-4 Sanwa from the Nepal Mukti Party and Muksam Labung Limbu, 44, of Phaktanglung-4 Ikhavu from the Federal Democratic National Forum.
According to Election Officer Bikash Shrestha, all candidates registered their nominations from 10:44 am to 4:15 pm on Magh 6. Shrestha informed that the first candidate to register was the Mongolian National Organization candidate and the last was the Nepali Congress candidate.
