What you should know

The UML Okhaldhunga party office has been locked, expressing dissatisfaction over the UML center giving a ticket to Asmita Thapa.

UML 4 mass organizations have locked down the party on Sunday, demanding that a person not recommended by the district committee get a ticket. The sister organizations, the National Youth Association, ANNFSU, All Nepal Women's Association and Nepal Sports Federation, have locked down the party indefinitely, demanding that the decision be corrected, according to a joint press release issued on Sunday.

National Youth Association Okhaldhunga President Bibesh Tamang, ANNFSU President Arjun Giri, All Nepal Women's Association President Pashupati Gurung and Nepal Sports Federation President Rajkumar Rai have issued a statement stating that they have locked down the party indefinitely until the decision is corrected.

Similarly, UML Okhaldhunga President Gyan Bahadur Khadka issued a statement on Sunday, stating that since the decision made by the Okhaldhunga District Committee in the name of democratic centralism was reversed and a decision was made for a faction against the sentiments of the general party cadres, it is impossible to support such people.

According to Kamal Neupane, Vice President of UML Okhaldhunga, the fraternal organizations have locked the door after the party center reversed the decision of the Okhaldhunga District Committee and gave tickets to a person who was not recommended. ‘This situation has come about after the party center reversed the decision of the District Committee and gave tickets to a person whose name was not even mentioned in the discussion,’ Neupane said.

According to Neupane, 5 names were recommended out of 18 who wanted to be candidates. Neupane said that this situation came about after one of the recommended candidates, Ishwor Pokharel, Yagyaraj Sunuwar, Amirbabu Gurung, Nanibabu Badathoki and Gyan Bahadur Khadka, was not given a ticket and a person whose name was not even mentioned in the discussion (Thapa) was given a ticket instead. Thapa became a central member from the Gen-G group.
