The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has been established in Khotang for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.

District Judge Phanindra Prasad Parajuli inaugurated the office of the Chief Election Officer at the District Court on Friday.

Judge Parajuli said that the process will be accelerated according to the Election Commission's work schedule. He said that he expects cooperation from all parties for this. He also said that he will discuss the election code of conduct with political parties and journalists in the district.

Speaking as the chief guest, Chief District Officer Rekha Kandel said that security arrangements will be strengthened for the election. Kandel also said that 864 of the 1,282 election police officers required for the election have applied. 

Applications for election police positions can be submitted until 5 pm on Magh 30, said DSP Prakash Budhathoki of District Police Khotang. Khotang, which has one constituency for the House of Representatives, has 147,120 voters, including 69,464 women and 77,656 men, said Rabin Magar, Chief of District Election Office Khotang.
