Five people died when a truck overturned at Phulchowk in Bhokrahanar Singh, Sunsari on Thursday morning.

Two others were injured in the accident involving a truck carrying marble. The truck, number 1 Kha 4541, was coming from Biratnagar towards Sunsari via the Hulaki Highway after loading marble and overturned on the road. 

All five people died on the spot, the District Police Office, Sunsari, has said. 

Five workers sitting on the loaded marble when the truck overturned were crushed to death by the same marble, informed DSP Chandra Khadka of the District Police Office, Sunsari.

The identity of the deceased has not been revealed. He said that the two injured have been taken to Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment and a detailed investigation into the incident is underway.
