A man has died after being attacked with a sharp weapon here. Police have said that 35-year-old Rupak Rai, a resident of Punyamarg, Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-11, was killed by a khukuri on the head inside his own house on Tuesday evening.
According to DSP Gribun Babu Rai of the Area Police Office, Dharan, it was seen that the deceased Rai was repeatedly hit on the head with a sharp weapon.
DSP Rai said that he died on the spot due to serious injuries. The body has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan (Ghopa) for postmortem after collecting the incident report.
Police said that during the investigation of the incident, Rabin Rai, 33, the son of the deceased's maternal uncle, who was living with him in the same house, was taken into custody. DSP Rai said that he was taken into custody after he appeared suspicious during the initial investigation.
He is currently being interrogated at the Area Police Office, Dharan. Police said that the exact reason for the incident has not been revealed.
