Police have taken into custody a Chinese national who entered the restricted area (Makalu-Barun National Park) at Kimathanka in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-1.

Chinese citizen Qi Guodong was arrested by a police patrol team deployed from the Area Police Office, Kimathanka on Sunday after he entered the restricted area without permission from the Immigration Department and required documents.

The police immediately sent him out of the restricted area and seized his passport. The District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha has stated that the process of sending him to the Immigration Department for necessary investigation and legal action regarding the incident is underway.

According to Police Inspector Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, prior approval from the concerned body is mandatory for the entry of foreign nationals into the restricted area. He said that action has been taken as per the law as he entered without following that process.
