Twenty-two women tested positive for cervical VIA at a women's reproductive health camp held at District Hospital Diktel on Thursday. Out of 310 women, 22 tested positive for the problem.
The camp examined 424 patients from Kharmi, Patheka, Nerpa, Dorpa, Solma, Diktel, Bijaykharka, Sakela and Diprung Chuichumma rural municipalities.
According to Khemraj Acharya, the head of the health department of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, since thermocoagulation was positive, they were referred to Shir Memorial Hospital in Banepa for further tests as there was a possibility of cervical cancer.
91 people were found to have problems with vaginal bleeding in the camp. Of these, 25 were fitted with a ring pessary and 20 others will need surgery, Acharya said.
Acharya said that patients who require surgery during screening will be taken to Banepa by the first week of Magh. Their treatment will be free of charge. Infection of the female reproductive organs was seen in 56 people.
Harihar Upreti, Program Coordinator of Community Service Foundation Bhaktapur, informed that camps will be conducted in Rawabesi Rural Municipality on 18th and 19th Poush and Halesi Tuwachung Municipality on 20th and 21st Poush.
