Most local levels in Sunsari have decided to close community and institutional schools for three days after severe cold and cold wave conditions caused difficulties in teaching and learning.
According to the information issued by the Education, Youth and Sports Department of Itahari Sub-metropolitan City, Duhabi, Inaruwa, Harinagar, Bhokrahanarsingh and Koshi Rural Municipality, schools have been given a holiday from 16th to 18th (three days) in 2082 BS. It is said that this decision was taken after the increasing impact of cold weather began to affect the health and regular studies of students.
As mentioned in the information issued by the local levels, it has been requested not to conduct all educational activities including school studies, examinations during the vacation period. Those local levels have informed all schools, teachers, students and parents of this decision and urged them to adopt necessary precautions.
The local levels have also requested that studies be conducted regularly again after the weather conditions normalize. Sunsari's Dharan sub-metropolitan city, Barah area and Ramdhuni municipality will hold an education committee meeting on Wednesday morning and make further decisions, said Nelson Dhakal, president of the private and residential school organization PABSON Sunsari.
