Hilihang Rural Municipality has been declared a fully vaccinated local level. The rural municipality was declared fully vaccinated on Sunday, completing the vaccination schedule for children from birth to 59 months as per the standards.

Hilihang, which has 7 wards, has 4,333 households and a population of 17,871. Of these, there are a total of 983 children, including 159 from birth to 11 months, 71 from 12 to 15 months, 230 from 16 to 23 months, and 523 from 24 to 23 months.

This rural municipality was declared fully vaccinated after all the vaccinations required for a certain age group were completed.  To complete the vaccination schedule for so many children, 324 vaccination sessions were conducted through 8 health institutions and 27 vaccination centers across the municipality, informed the rural municipality chairperson Samar Adhikari.

Ramraj Angdembe, head of the District Coordination Committee Panchthar, who is also the coordinator of the District Vaccination Coordination Committee, declared Hilihang a fully vaccinated rural municipality by presenting a certificate of full vaccination assurance to the rural municipality chairperson Adhikari, Chief Administrative Officer Topendra Sanwa, and the rural municipality health branch chief Chandra Ghimire. This rural municipality has been awarded as the first fully vaccinated rural municipality in Panchthar district for the past 4 years. Last year, this municipality became the first fully vaccinated rural municipality in Koshi Province.

Bharat Bhandari, head of the vaccination branch under the Ministry of Health of Koshi Province, said that this year, it has become the first local level in Nepal to declare full vaccination and sustainability by completing all doses of the Hilihang vaccine.

Speaking at the announcement program, the rural municipality chairman Adhikari honored 80 people, including employees and women's health volunteers, who worked in the vaccination campaign with certificates of appreciation.

There are 137 local levels in Koshi Province. The announcement program of full vaccination and sustainability was attended by Mahesh Kumar Sunar, Chief of the District Health Office Panchthar, Vaccination Supervisor Ganesh Tumbapo, and representatives of various organizations working in the health sector, along with public representatives. Leaders of political parties in the municipality also delivered congratulatory speeches at the program.
