Police have re-arrested an escaped prisoner who was serving a prison sentence for rape.
Tikaram Bishwakarma, alias Amit, 29, of Chichila Rural Municipality-5, Sankhuwasabha, had been serving his sentence at the Central Prison Office, Kathmandu since Poush 27, 2075.
He had escaped from prison during the Genji movement on Bhadra 24.
A team deployed by the Sankhuwasabha District Police to search for the absconding Bishwakarma arrested him at around 1 pm on Saturday while he was hiding in a relative's house in Belbari Municipality-4, Morang, based on confidential information.
The arrested Bishwakarma was handed over to the Sankhuwasabha Prison Office on Sunday for execution of the verdict, said Inspector Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi of the Sankhuwasabha District Police.
