Tension has risen at Manmohan Technical University in Budhiganga, Morang after four students were suspended for allegedly teasing a female student.
Tension prevailed on the campus on Friday morning after the university administration suspended four students after some students allegedly teased female students studying polytechnic.
University sources said that the university administration had discussed with the parents about 4-5 days ago and decided to ban the four students from entering the college for 15 days after they were allegedly misbehaved with the female student. However, some of the suspended students and their parents had objected to the decision, claiming that they were innocent.
Although one of the suspended students claimed that he was not involved in the incident, other students have accused him of being involved. The disgruntled students, angered by this issue, staged a protest by burning tires outside the university's Mulgate.
The situation around the university premises became tense for some time due to the protest. However, the administration said that there was no major physical damage inside the campus.
The university administration has issued a notice and is preparing to hold another discussion with the parents to bring the situation under control.
