A man in Duhabi, Sunsari, has set his wife on fire by pouring petrol on her body. Mustafa Sheikh, 33, a resident of Muktinath Temple area of Duhabi Municipality-3, poured petrol on his wife Khusbu Khatun, 28, and set her on fire on Thursday.
According to the Area Police Office, Duhabi, Mustafa poured petrol on his wife's body and set her on fire during a domestic dispute.
Neighbors and locals informed the police as soon as they came to know about the incident. A two-member team from the Duhabi Police Office, under the command of Assistant Inspector Shiva Narayan Majhi, rescued the injured woman. The police team rescued the injured woman and sent her to a nearby community hospital for treatment.
The woman, who was seriously burned by the fire, was admitted to Paras Hospital in Biratnagar for further treatment on Thursday evening, according to the Area Police Office, Duhabi. Both hands, neck, chest and face of the injured woman were burned. Mustafa, who set his wife on fire, has been taken into custody by the police.
He is currently being investigated further at the Area Police Office, Duhabi, according to the police.
