The ten-day Chasok Mela has begun in Phidim, Panchthar. The fair, which began on Thursday evening, will continue until Poush 20.

This fair, held every year in the month of Poush on the occasion of the Kirat-Limbu cultural festival Chasok Tangnam, features cultural tableaus of Limbu, Rai, Magar, Tamang, and other castes living in large numbers in the east, along with various dance performances and stalls selling original food. At this fair, people perform Dhan and Chhyabrung dances, and adults sing Palam to entertain themselves.

A crowd of people come dressed in original costumes. This fair, held around Sumhatlung Temple, a historical and religious area of Panchthar, has been started with the aim of promoting cultural conservation and tourism.

The fair is managed by the Sumjiri Sumhatlung Amvepaj Conservation Foundation, and Phidim Municipality-4 has supported it.
