High-speed internet service has been expanded in Kimathanka, the northern border crossing with China. Nepal Telecom has officially launched 4G service in Kimathanka, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality area, which is located under the North-South Koshi Highway, from Thursday.
Previously, only limited 2G service was available through satellite link in Kimathanka, which was considered a very remote and remote area.
Nepal Telecom has stated that a repeater has been installed on Simbokp hill in Bhotkhola and modern technology-based service has been expanded through microwave (radio) link. After the 4G service came into operation, Nepal Telecom's internet access has reached all the municipalities and wards of Sankhuwasabha district.
This is expected to facilitate digital access to communication, education, health, business and government services for the local residents. Local residents have expressed happiness over the availability of high-speed internet service in the remote area.
Bhotkhola Rural Municipality Chairman Bangchedar Bhote said that this is a historic achievement in terms of development of the region, access to information and border security.
