Mayor Bhattarai said that a decision has been made to request the Indian government for skilled manpower and equipment for monkey sterilization.
Monkey sterilization is to be carried out in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. The decision was taken during a discussion held on Wednesday to formulate the Monkey Sterilization Program Operation Procedure 2082 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
In a discussion organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development for the monkey control action plan and related preparations, it was decided to sterilize monkeys in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, said Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai.
Bhattarai said that it was decided to request the Government of India for skilled manpower and equipment for monkey sterilization. Since a budget of 35 million rupees is required for this, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has allocated 12 million rupees out of this, Bhattarai said, and it has been decided that the ministry itself will also provide the other necessary budget.
The discussion, chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Deepak Kumar Kharal, was attended by Mayor Bhattarai, Joint Secretaries Dr. Hari Bahadur KC, Dr. Pashupati Dhungana, Director General of the Department of Animal Services Dr. Ramanandan Tiwari, and officials of the concerned bodies.
