A person died in a wild elephant attack in Jhapa on Thursday morning.

Police have said that the man died on the spot after being trampled by an elephant near Khadka Danda in Bahundandi, Mechinagar Municipality-4.

The deceased has not been identified. According to the police, the man, who appears to be around 55 years old, is suspected to be an Indian citizen. Police have said that further investigation into the incident is underway.

Last Saturday, 60-year-old Bhavkrishna Ghimire of Sundarharaincha Municipality-12, Morang, died after being attacked by an elephant. 

Ghimire was on his way to sell milk when the elephant attacked him at 5 am. He died on the spot.
