A landslide that occurred on Thursday during road construction in Pedang Yangpang, Sirijanga Rural Municipality-5, buried the machine. The driver, however, managed to escape.

According to Police Inspector Jatashankar Yadav, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Taplejung, the excavator was damaged by rocks and soil falling from the road. The driver, 58-year-old Hom Prasad Limbu of Phungling Municipality-3, is unharmed. According to Yadav, Limbu, who managed to escape after the machine he was driving was buried, called the police and informed them.

Yadav informed that the excavator was not in a condition to be removed immediately. A team led by Police Assistant Inspector Parbat Rai from the Area Police Office, Tellok, has reached the spot. Locals say that there were no casualties as the driver fled after the landslide started.
