Police have made public the incident of a husband killing his wife and burying her body in Madi Municipality of Sankhuwasabha. It was revealed after arresting 49-year-old Prem Dorchi Sherpa of Madi Municipality-3 that he had killed his wife. Police have initiated an investigation into a case of culpable homicide against him.

According to the police, on the night of Mangsir 27, around 10:30 pm, while returning home from Okharbote Bazaar, Prem Dorchi Sherpa and his 37-year-old wife Meena Sherpa had an argument over a general matter. As the argument escalated, Dorchi admitted to beating his wife on the way and killing her.

After the murder, he gave a statement to the police that he dug a hole in his own cardamom garden in Madi Municipality-3 that night and buried the body wrapped in a tarpaulin.

After the incident, Prem Dorchi Sherpa had filed a missing complaint at the Madi, Mangalbare police station on Mangsir 27. During the search and interrogation, the police became suspicious of Dorchi, so he confessed to the murder, DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali said.

An investigation team deployed from the Area Police Office, Chainpur under the command of Police Inspector Parshuram Rai found the woman's body wrapped in a tarpaulin and in a decomposed state while digging in the cardamom garden, he said. Police said that the arrested Dorchi was remanded in custody by the Sankhuwasabha District Court, Chainpur, on Sunday in a case of manslaughter.
