Halesi Tuwachung Municipality has distributed incentive money to farmers who grow almonds. The incentive money was distributed on Sunday to farmers who grow more than five acres of almonds.

According to Halesi Tuwachung Municipality spokesperson Kamal Giri, Rs 1 million 5,100 has been distributed to farmers who grow almonds as part of the production-based incentive program. 

24 farmers from Dikuwa of the municipality have grown 260 acres, 13 farmers from Durchhim have grown 164 acres, 43 farmers from Mahadevsthan have grown 631 acres, 158 farmers from Dhitung have grown 1,842 acres, and 24 farmers from Rajapani have grown 231 acres, totaling 93.84 metric tons of almonds. Giri said that Gopal Budhathoki of Dhitung has grown the most almonds, with 41 acres. 

An incentive of Rs 2,500 has been distributed to those who produce five acres of almonds, and an additional Rs 300 per acre to those who produce more than that, Giri said. 

Last year too, an incentive of Rs 1 million was distributed to farmers who grow almonds. Last year, 1,583 muri (47 metric tons) were produced. Giri said that this year, 46.35 metric tons more almonds have been produced than last year.
