Oranges worth over Rs 340 million have been produced in the district. Oranges worth Rs 341 million have been produced in 980 hectares of the district.

According to Deepak Chauhan, an agricultural economist at the Agricultural Knowledge Center Khotang, this year 3,410 metric tons of oranges were produced in 980 hectares in the district. 

But compared to last year, orange production has decreased by 15 hectares, Chauhan said. ‘Last year, orange production was on 995 hectares, but this year orange production has decreased to only 980 hectares,’ Chauhan said. ‘The 3,410 metric tons of oranges produced are worth Rs 341 million at Rs 100 per kilogram.’

This year, the highest orange production has been in Jantedhunga and Diprung Chuichumma rural municipalities. Jagat Rai of Jantedhunga rural municipality-6, Diplung, has earned Rs 700,000 from oranges this season. Rai said that he earned Rs 700,000 this Mangsir by selling 250 orange plants. ‘Oranges were sold from the orchards due to the convenience of transportation,’ Rai said, ‘This year, we earned 7 lakh rupees from oranges.’

Not only him, but others in this area have also earned lakhs from oranges. Farmers from Satmara, Kerabari, Sobhe, Phagatpur, Pathibhara, Bhirgaun, Wachipala, Ghole, Khuta, and Kattike of the said rural municipality have earned a lot of income from oranges. According to Rai, about 45 million rupees have entered the said municipality from oranges. 

‘Oranges worth around 45 to 50 million rupees were sold in Jantedhunga rural municipality,’ Rai said, ‘Orange production has increased later this year compared to last year.’ Ram Kunwar of Diprung Chuichumma rural municipality-1, Yamkha, estimates that they will earn 1.2 million rupees from oranges this year.

Kunwar says that the income will also increase this year as the orange production has increased compared to the income of 9 lakh last year. "I sold oranges worth 9 lakh last year, this year the orange production has increased, it will be around 1.2 lakh," Kunwar said. Kunwar said that he and others from Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality are also making good income from oranges.

Indra Narathunge of Indrenipokhari, Khotehang Rural Municipality-6 said that farmers in Khotehang Rural Municipality are also making good money from oranges. Narathunge said that orange production in the municipality has decreased this year compared to last year.

 Similarly, orange production has decreased in Rawabesi Rural Municipality. According to Deepak Chauhan, an agricultural economist at the Agricultural Knowledge Center Khotang, the production has decreased in the Lamidanda area of ​​Rawabesi due to disease damage to oranges.
