Ilam Police have arrested 15 people on charges of vandalism and arson of various offices and public property during the protests on Bhadra 10.
They are citizens from Ilam to Taplejung and Jhapa, accused of involvement in vandalism and arson. Among those arrested is RPP leader Tikaram Chauhan of Ilam-9.
According to Ilam Police, the arrested are Kamal Kumar Sah Haluwai, 52, of Ilam-7, Bishal Novhang, 29, of Ilam-6, Pabittar Mallik, 40, of Ilam-7, Hom Bahadur Khawas, 39, of Ilam-9, Adarsh Rai, 23, of Phakphokathum-3, Yadav Tiwari, 36, of Ilam-4, Arjun Trikhatri, 30, of Ilam-6, Anju Rai, 25, of Sandakpur-2, and Sagar Sangraula, 30, of Ilam-1.
Similarly, 32-year-old Tej Kumar Bik of Mikwakhola-2, Taplejung, 28-year-old Anish Rai of Ilam-12, 23-year-old Mohan Kumar Limbu of Ilam-5, 43-year-old Suraj Gurung of Prithvinagar, Jhapa and 36-year-old Sabin Rai of Ilam-9 have also been arrested.
DSP Laxmi Bhandari of the District Police Office informed that they were arrested from different places. All those arrested have been produced in court and their remand has been extended and an investigation has been started.
On Bhadra 24, various government offices, party offices, police stations, vehicles, etc. in Ilam were vandalized and set on fire, and many items were looted.
