The Kirat-Limbu community celebrated the important festival of Chasok Tangnam on Wednesday in a grand manner with various cultural programs in Biratnagar.

The local Limbu community dressed up in traditional attire and enjoyed the festival of Chasok Tangnam, known as the Nwagi eating festival organized by Kirat Yakthung Chamlung. Koshi Province Chief Parshuram Khapung, who participated in the program, said that festivals strengthen national unity, nationality and independence, and cultural diversity is the real strength of Nepal.

Stating that in the Limbu language, 'Chasok' means new rice and 'Tangnam' means worship/festival, he said that this festival, which expresses gratitude towards nature, ancestors and crops, will convey a message of collectivity and coexistence in the society. 

Locals celebrated Chasok Tangnam as a celebration of identity, tradition and cultural continuity, and organized dances, prayers and group gatherings at various places in Biratnagar.
