Joint discussion between security officers from three districts on election security

Discussions have been held at Gufa Pokhari between the Chief District Officers of the three border districts, including the heads of security agencies, on the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 and the issues of peace and security. The gathering of security officers from Taplejung, Tehrathum and Sankhuwasabha districts took place at Gufa Pokhari.

According to Taplejung Chief District Officer Shivaraj Sedhai, security officers from all three districts discussed the strategy to be adopted in terms of security to conduct the Falgun 21 elections.

‘We discussed the strategy to be adopted to conduct the elections in a fearless, free and fair manner,’ Sedhai said, ‘We also had in-depth discussions on exchanging information to control escaped prisoners and weapons during the Janaji movement.’ Security officers from all three districts are expecting the meeting to yield visible results.

Gufa Pokhari is the confluence of Taplejung and Sankhuwasabha, which border China, and Tehrathum, which borders the Terai. The discussion was attended by the Chief District Officer from Taplejung, including the Chief District Officer, Sergeant Umesh Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Pramod Prakash Pathak, Chief Investigation Officer Shreebhajan Ray, Police Inspector Jatashankar Yadav and Assistant Chief District Officer Sandipa Khadka. 

Chief District Officer Prakash Chandra Adhikari, Sergeant Krishna Tiwari, Deputy Superintendent of Police Lila Raj Lamichhane, Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Mahesh Raj Bista, Chief Investigation Officer Dilli Ram Bhattarai and Assistant Chief District Officer Bikram Limbu participated from Tehrathum.

Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya, Sergeant Nawaraj Basnet, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Prasad Mainali, Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Baburam Poudel, Chief Investigation Officer Ram Achal Shah and Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Mani Ghimire participated from Sankhuwasabha.
