Two people have died after a scooter collided with a truck in Bhanjyang Golai, Ilam Municipality-9, on the Mechi Highway.
The District Police Office, Ilam, has stated that two people riding the scooter died when a truck (Province 1-01-001 Kha 4101) coming from Jhapa to Ilam collided with a scooter (Province 1-01-012 Pa 4899) going from the opposite direction.
David Thapa Magar, 26, of Golbasti, Ilam Municipality-9, and Chhewang Sherpa, 18, of Nayabazar, Maijogmai-1, died in the accident.
They were declared dead by doctors at Ilam District Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the accident.
The truck driver, Ram Prasad Shrestha, 25, of Bibliate, Ilam Municipality-5, was taken into custody after the accident, according to the police.
