The free special health care camp organized at the Sankhuwasabha District Hospital on Friday brought great relief to the general public of Sankhuwasabha and neighboring Bhojpur district.

The hospital administration has stated that more than 300 people availed services in the camp on a single day. 30 patients with addiction and mental illness, 82 with ear, nose and throat, and 74 with skin received specialist services in the camp.

Senior addiction and mental illness specialist, former secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Roshan Pokharel, nose, ear and throat specialist of Koshi Hospital Biratnagar Dr. Raunak Dahal, skin disease specialist of the same hospital and other doctors provided services in the camp. The hospital stated that since specialist services are available at one place, it is possible to treat many patients in a short time.

According to Dr. Santosh Dev, chief of the Sankhuwasabha District Hospital, along with Sankhuwasabha, patients from the northern region of Bhojpur have also availed services in the camp. 'Especially the elderly, women and children from remote settlements got the opportunity to meet specialists nearby,' he said, 'Many patients with addiction and mental problems, skin diseases, nose, ear, and throat diseases availed services.' He said that regular such programs will have a long-term positive impact on public health.

Hospital Management Committee Chairman Suman Shakya said that due to the camp, patients from simple to complex nature have been provided with easy treatment. 'The camp has provided relief to many families who had to bear the financial burden of treatment outside the district,' he said, 'especially those with headaches, skin itching, allergies, skin and ear problems in children, and mental health challenges in the elderly have benefited directly.'

'We saw that the crowd that came to the health camp made the need for such programs at the rural level even clearer,' he said, 'We will also conduct more specialist service camps related to chronic diseases, women's health and child health at the district hospital in the coming days.'
