One person died in a motorcycle accident in Dharan on Friday morning.
The accident occurred when a motorcycle (PR 1-03-001 Pa 1324) heading towards Itahari from Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-8 in Tinkune under Koshi Highway hit a truck (PR 1-02-001 Kha 8757) parked on the roadside from behind. According to the police, both the motorcycle driver and the passenger were seriously injured in the accident. Both were rescued by the police and sent to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for treatment. DSP Grihan Babu Rai, Chief of the Area Police Office, Dharan, said that one person died during treatment. DSP Rai said that the deceased was Manjil Limbu, 25, a resident of Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-4. Amit Rai, 32, a resident of Itahari-5, who was riding the motorcycle, is undergoing treatment.
The police have taken 27-year-old Ganesh Bhandari, a truck driver from Phedap, Terhathum, into custody. The body of the deceased motorcyclist Limbu has been kept at the BP Pratishthan morgue, police said.
