Following the repair of the road from Sukepani to Olangchungola under the Phungling Olangchungola Tiptala Bhanjyang road, which was blocked due to rain, vehicles have reached the settlement of Olangchungola.
The road has been cleared with the help of Super Tamor Hydropower Company and two motorcycles and a tractor have arrived, said Ward Chairman of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-7, Cheten Sherpa Lama.
Lama says that two youths from Phaktanglung brought the motorcycle on the same day after the road was cleared on Sunday. According to Lama, locals have said that there is a problem with small vehicles being able to cross the Tamor River in Sukepani and Jongin due to the high water flow.
“We are preparing to make it so that the water flow can decrease in a week to 15 days and then install a hume pipe so that even small vehicles can pass through,” Lama said. “We have the same hume pipe as last year, we just need to get it installed by the road office.”
The iron hume pipe provided by the Dingze County government of China was installed last year. The same pipes were removed and placed after the water rose in the river due to the rains. Although some of them were crushed, Lama says that they are still able to cross the river.
Efforts are also being made to clear the road from Olangchungola to Tiptala Bhanjyang on the Nepal-China border, according to the North-South Highway Olangchungola Road Office. An employee said that preparations are being made to repair the road based on the snow conditions as it is currently snowing.
