Five civilians were killed last year when wild elephants caused havoc in various rural settlements in Morang.

In the fiscal year 2081/082 alone, 62 locals were affected by wild animals. According to the Division Forest Office, Morang, the elephant attack caused not only human but also material damage. Ramlakhan Thakur, Information Officer of the Forest Office, Morang, said that the government provided about 6 million rupees in relief that year for damage to crops, barns, and food storage. According to the office, 463,000 rupees have been distributed for crop damage, 190,000 rupees for storage and barns, 110,000 rupees for house and barn damage, 59,889 rupees for crop and barn damage, and 20,000 rupees for storage and barn damage. The government has been providing 1 million rupees to the families of those who died in wild animal attacks and 200,000 to 250,000 rupees for the injured. Accordingly, Rs 5 million has been provided to the families of the five deceased and Rs 2 million to the injured.
