A large quantity of banned drugs has been seized from a pharmacy operating in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-12, Sunsari.
On Tuesday, a joint team from the Area Police Office Itahari, Police Post Khanar and District Police Office Bhojpur raided the pharmacy and seized banned drugs. The police have taken the operator under control, the police said.
According to Sunsari SP Keshav Kumar Thebe, surveillance was increased based on confidential information that the pharmacy's operator, 50-year-old Nasib Narayan Chaudhary, was selling and distributing tramadol, and in the meantime, Chaudhary and his wife were arrested from the pharmacy on Tuesday.
After the arrest, during a house-to-house search as per the law, Chaudhary's wife, 24-year-old Samjha Chaudhary, was caught throwing two sacks of cement from the roof of the house. When the police examined the sacks, a large quantity of drugs was found, SP Thebe said.
Police have recovered 19,800 Tramadol capsules in 1,980 sheets from the bag and inside the house, and 4,000 tablets of banned drugs in 400 sheets from the table in Chaudhary's room. Both have been taken into custody along with the narcotics and banned drugs and have been taken to the Area Police Office, Itahari. Police have said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
