Police shot Rudra Bahadur Bishwakarma, 31, of Khandbari-6, who was trying to be arrested from the Bus Park area of Khandbari Municipality-1, in the thigh after he tried to escape by brandishing a khukuri.
Police have shot and arrested a man who tried to snatch weapons from plainclothes police officers in Khandbari, Sankhuwasabha, by brandishing a khukuri.
Rudra Bahadur Bishwakarma, 31, of Khandbari-6, who was being sought for arrest from the Khandbari Municipality-1 Bus Park area on Sunday afternoon, was shot in the thigh by the police after he tried to flee by brandishing a khukuri. He had also assaulted the police and tried to snatch his weapon. According to DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali of the Sankhuwasabha District Police, Bishwakarma had recently been released from prison after serving a six-year sentence in a rape case. DSP Mainali said that even after he was released from prison, he had shown aggressive behavior and tried to snatch his weapon when they tried to arrest him after 6/7 theft complaints were filed against him. Police said that Bishwakarma, who was injured in the shooting, is being treated at the Khandbari District Hospital. His condition is normal and further investigation is underway, DSP Mainali said.
