Twelve prisoners who escaped from various prisons during the protests organized by Gen-G on Bhadra 23 and 24 have been arrested from Panchthar.

The number of people who escaped from Sunsari's Jhumka Jail on Bhadra 24 after being convicted in a rape case has reached 12 in the district with the arrest of Baburam Angdembe on Friday afternoon. The 26-year-old was arrested from Miklajung-4 Rabi Bazaar at 1 pm and brought to the district headquarters, informed District Police Office Panchthar Chief (DSP) Anish Kumar Karna.

Earlier, 11 people who escaped after the prison was vandalized and set on fire were arrested. Those arrested include Panendra Tamang, 45, of Kummayak-1 in the district, Binay Nembang, 36, of Phidim Municipality-1, Gopal Bohara, 40, of Mauwa, Tumwewa-5, Mangalsingh Tumbapo, 30, of Phidim Municipality-5, and Chakra Tamang, 29, of Hilihang Rural Municipality-7. 

Similarly, 51-year-old Santabir Lawati of Miklajung Rural Municipality-5, 51-year-old Desh Bahadur Tamang of Falgunanda Rural Municipality-3, 40-year-old Rajendra Pariyar Darji of Phidim-1, 22-year-old Kiran Pokharel of Hilihang-4, 35-year-old Milan Thamsuhang of Phidim-12 and 23-year-old Udesh Nugo of Yangwarak Rural Municipality-3 have been arrested, according to the District Police Office of Panchthar.

One of the arrested, Binay Nembang alias Chandra of Phidim-1, has escaped from the Nakhkhu Prison in Kathmandu. The other 11 have escaped from the Jhumka Prison.

The police have said that all those arrested have been sent to prison. The police estimate that there are still escaped prisoners in the district.
