The District Administration Office, Taplejung, has tightened the sale and distribution of banned cough syrup, citing the possibility of it being smuggled into India. Chief District Officer Shivraj Sedhai has issued a notice stating that if it is found to be used anywhere, it will be confiscated.

The Indian government has banned various types of contaminated cough syrups due to the deaths of children. The sale and use of such syrups has been banned as they can be illegally imported into Nepal, and the administration has informed that no one should sell, distribute or use such banned syrups.

The administration has also requested that if anyone is found selling, distributing, storing or using them, they should immediately inform the local administration/police.

Since it is a border district with India, they have been alerted and strict action will be taken, said Shedhai.
